Kandinsky (1866-1944)
Wassily Kandinsky's work(1866-1944) demands an intuitive response, yet his paintings have
density and vitality, and a radiant freshness of feeling that impresses us even though we are
uncertain what exactly the artist has expressed.
Kandinsky's (or any artist's) ideas are not important to us unless we are convinced of the importance
of his pictures.
In applying the term "abstraction" to his work it is taken to mean the result of analysing and simplifying
observed reality. Abstraction means "to draw away from, to separate."
