Gobelins tapestry circa 1680 in the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris In the17th century a group of Flemish weavers purchased buildings from the Gobelins family. From the 1660's to present day, the Gobelins name has been associated with tapestry weaving. Structured as a traditional guild workshop, students have been apprentices of tapestry masters for hundreds of years.
