HARNESS LOOM

Simple looms are 4 pieces of wood or metal fastened securely together. The warp threads are wound snugly in a vertical direction around the frame. The weaver moves the weft yarn across the warp picking up the desired warp threads. For centuries, early weavers used various forms of simple frame looms to produce cloth.

Tapestry weavers hand pick warp threads to interlace weft yarns of various colours and textures. It is possible to produce picture-like cloth using this technique. [SB] {SB}
