Hail
Hail is balls of ice that fall from cumulonimbus clouds, which have strong upward and
downward currents of air moving within them.
Hail is often destructive. They have been responsible for devastating crop damage as
well as injury to people and
possessions.

Hailstones grow as horizontal winds bump rain and snow pellets within a cloud.
Hailstones may
be millimetres or centimetres wide, depending on the number of times the
hailstone has been coated with ice.
