To the west, far from the runoff, lies the Great Indian Desert. Farther south, the western desert yields to the Aravalli Range. In the east, the plain rises up to the Chota Nagpur Plateau, drained by the Mahanadi into the Bay of Biscay. The Vindhya Mountains are separated from the Satpura Mountains by the Narbada flowing into the Gulf of Cambay. In the south, a pair of coastal ridges, the Western & Eastern Ghats, rise up to the central Deccan Plateau, drained by the Godavari (north) & Krishna. [NS] {UA}
