Uranus
Uranus was detected in 1781 by Sir William Herschel, who originally thought it was a comet.
Uranus is the seventh planet in order of distance from the Sun at over 19AU.
The period of revolution of Uranus is slightly more than 84 years with a diameter of 6,700km.
The mass of Uranus is approximately 8.684 x 1025kg.
Uranus appears as a small greenish or bluish disk in Earth-based telescopes because methane in its atmosphere absorbs the other colours such as red.
Uranus has five major moons: Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon in order of their distance from the planet.
