Nomadic peoples once lived around the mouth of the La Plata river.
On this site,
the future capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, was founded by Mendoza of Spain in 1536.
In
1776, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay & Uruguay formed the Viceroyalty of La Plata to defend
against the Portuguese influence from Brazil.
