Ancient Iceland
Iceland was
originally settled by Vikings in the 9th century AD. In 930 the Vikings created the first
government in
Europe's history known as the Althing. Christianity was introduced to the
Vikings
around 1000. By the 13th century, Iceland acknowledged the rule of Norway.
