History of Syria

Syria has a long & tummultuous history. It is the home of some of the world's oldest centers of civilization & fights battles today which have roots in these ancient days. Syria has been part of the Hittite, Assyrian & Persian empires. Syria has also been conquered by the Babylonians & Egyptians. In 1250BC Phoenician rule dominated the coastal regions. In 332BC Syria f òell to the Alexandrean empire followed by the domination of the Seleucid empire. [BM] {UA}
