Early Afghanistan
In 1966, excavations at Darra-e Kur (Cave of the Valley) in Badakhshan province revealed early humans lived in what is now Afghanistan at least 52,000 years ago.
Also found were over 800 poor quality flint and chert tools including crude points, flakes, handaxes, scrapers and flake blades attributed to the Middle Palaeolithic Period.
