First Magazine
Edifying Monthly Discussions started in 1663 making it the first publication that can really be called a magazine. It was published by Johann Rist, a German poet and theologian and lasted five years.
However, Edward Cave's Gentleman's Magazine (1731) was the first publication to use the word magazine.
