History of Burundi
There are two ethnic groups in Burundi. The majority
are
Hutu & the minority, but politically powerful,
Tutsi. The original Hutu practiced
agriculture, while
the cattle-farming Tutsi formed a feudal overlordship.
In 1858, Europeans
explored Burundi & decided the territory
would be incorporated into German East Africa in
1899.
