Medieval Finland
Over the centuries
Finland was a battleground for disputes between Russia
and Sweden. The nation was
continually injured. A war-induced famine killed
one-third of the Finnish population in
1696.
The Tirkkonen Fountain, featured in this photograph, is located in Tampere,
Finland.
