In the 12th century Georgia gained independence from Persian rule. This independence was brief as Georgia became the war zone between Persia and Turkey for the next few centuries. Georgia was eventually divided between the Persians and the Turks.
This old chapel (in Tbilisi), the Metehki Chapel, was founded in 1278 AD.
