Medieval Madagascar

Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, & the largest island nation. About 2000 years ago this island was settled by Malayo-Indonesians. These migrants were to be joined by African & Arab migrants as time progressed. In the 16th century the Portugese tried to colonize the island but were unsuccessful.In 1885 Madagascar became a French protectorate and a colony before the end of the century.
