History of Marshall Islands
The Marshall
Islands, found in the region of Micronesia, are made of 31 coral islands. In 1592 these
beautiful
Pacific islands were claimed by the Spanish. The Spanish, however, never disturbed
these islands for some 300
years. In 1885 Germany took over administrative control of two
islands, Jaluit & Ebon. At that time the economy was
sustained by the trade of copra. Copra
is dried coconut meat.
