The war of 1812 between Britain & the United States of America, saw Canada as their battleground. Neither French nor English had any desire to join the USA & so a border was established along the latitude of 49 degrees north, as far west as the Rocky Mountains. There was a wave of British immigration between 1815-1855, & French Canadians became the minority for the first time. [BA] {UA}
