HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Modern Italy

During the 19th century Italy grew in nationalistic fervour. This fervour brought on revolution, & lost territory was reclaimed. Italy, however, remained divided between church & state, rich & poor, north & south. In WWI, Italy lost 1 million through its wartime efforts. This loss, coupled with a poor economy & polictical disillusionment led to the rise of fascism. In 1922 facist dictator Mussolini came into power. Mussolini would join with Hitler in WWII. [BM] {UA}
