Modern Latvia

In 1918, at a time when there was great cultural revival, Lativia received independence. A new constitution was established in 1922. However, Latvia would soon fall under the power of Stalin. In 1940 Latvia became a region of the Soviet Union. Until the 1990's Latvia was greatly supressed under the USSR.
