The 1900's were ushered in accompanied by political unrest & civil war. By the 1940's Spain was under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. Through Franco's intervention the poor economy experienced a rebirth. When Franco died a new monarchy was established. Under Prime Minister Marquez, Spain was economically very stong between 1986-1992 with the GDP growing approximately 5%. In 1992 the Summer Olympics were held in Barcelona. [BM] {UA}
