The Jehovah's Witnesses were founded in western Pennsylvania by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916) in the 1870's. This group of approximately 3 million worldwide have become well known through their active ministry. Often seen on street corners and going door to door this group has become notorious. Jehovah's Witnesses have an unorthodox view of the Christian message and place great emphasis on the end of times. The majority of Jehovah's Witnesses live in the United States. [BM] {VA}
