Injury to the spinal
cord is often serious and can cause paralysis of all or
some of the muscles in the body as well as anything
connected to the spinal cord at or below the site of
injury. Paraplegia is the loss of function in the lower
extremities whereas quadriplegia is paralysis of the
four extremities. Hemiplegia is the paralysis of the
upper and lower limbs on one side of the body.
