Bixbyite (iron mangansese oxide) is a black mineral that may be shiny or dull. In nature, it is often recognized because of its cubical structure. It is usually located along with topaz and hematite, and in rhyolite cavities. Deposits of large bixybite minerals occur in India and Sweden. This mineral has no commercial uses, but is valued for its structure. [LM] {CC} {SS}
