Hematite
Hematite is also known as iron oxide.
It is usually dark grey or red in colour. Sometimes individual hematite crystals are
arranged like rose petals, so some minerologists called this element the "iron rose".
Hematite is commonly found in igneous rocks. Major deposits are located near Lake Superior,
Canada in Quebec, Canada, and in Brazil. Hematite is the world's major source of iron.
