Alkynes
An alkyne is a type of open-chain organic compound known as an unsaturated
hydrocarbon. Alkynes have a triple bond between two carbon atoms, and the general
formula is CnHn. The most widely used alkyne is acetylene,
which is the fuel for blow
torches and is a component of neoprene rubber, the rubber that wet suits are made out
of.
