Guanine is one of the precursors of DNA and RNA Nucleotides along with Adenine, Cytosine, Thymine and Uracil. It is a purine Nitrogenous base that consists of fused 5- and 6-member rings of Carbon and Nitrogen atoms. Guanine is colourless and water-soluble. Its complementary base pair in DNA is Cytosine.
