HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Parabola

A parabola is a conic section produced by the intersection of a right circular cone and a plane parallel to an element of the cone. It consists of points equidistant from a given fixed point (focus) and a given fixed line (directrix).
The parabola is basically the path of a projectile thrown outward into the air. The parabolic shape also is seen in certain bridges, forming arches.
The axis of a parabola is the line through the focus perpendicular (at right angles) to the directrix. The vertex is the point at which the axis intersects the curve.
