Protons
Protons have a charge equal and opposite to that of the Electron, namely +1.
The Proton is found in the nucleus of an atom and hardly moves relative to the Electron due to the larger mass.
The number of Protons in a nucleus represents the Atomic Number of an Element.
Every Element has a different number of Protons, so every Element has a different Atomic Number.
For example, the Atomic Number of Oxygen is eight; therefore, Oxygen has eight Protons in its nucleus.
The Periodic Table arranges the elements in order of increasing Atomic Number.
