DRESSING THE LOOM

The process of placing the warp yarns on the loom is called dressing the loom. The warp can be attached to the loom from the back first or from the front first. The warp for this table matt will be dressed from the front to the back.

The first step is to place the lease sticks (thin strips of wood or metal with holes at each end) through the two sections of the tied warp cross. Once in place the lease sticks are tied securely to the frame of the loom.

Next the ties holding the warp cross are cut and the individual warp threads are spread out, in order, across the lease sticks. [SB] {SB}
